Michaela Tomlinson
Founder of Lincoln Stud, Michaela Tomlinson is a lifelong horsewoman, accomplished competitor, and BHSI-qualified instructor with a career spanning eventing, showjumping, and training.
Michaela began riding as a child and quickly rose through the Warlingham Pony Club ranks, representing her branch at Area level in Eventing, Show Jumping and Dressage. She passed every Pony Club certificate, achieving the prestigious A Test at just 18.
Her early career saw her train with Lucy Thompson’s Asprey Event Team, progressing from Working Pupil to Head Girl and rider before founding Lincoln Stud in 1992.
Michaela has produced and competed numerous successful horses over the years, including:
Welton Flapjack – produced from a four-year-old to Advanced, competing at Burghley CCI4*, Blenheim CCI3*, and Osberton.
Silver Shadow – brought through the levels to compete at Windsor, Bramham, and Punchestown.
Not Before Time – developed from a four-year-old to Advanced, with notable results at Burgie, Necarne Castle, and Blenheim.
Coolparks Sarco – an Irish Sport Horse by Shannondale Sarco, later campaigned at CCI5* level by Piggy March, adding to Michaela’s record of producing talented eventers from their early years.
Today, Michaela continues to teach and compete, focusing on British Showjumping with her main horse Westpoint Grandure and several horses owned by clients. She has built a reputation for producing young horses with care, consistency, and precision, bringing them confidently through the ranks to national level competition.
Alongside her showjumping, Michaela also trains a small number of Point-to-Point horses, with winners including Jazz Attack, Lead It Well, Magic Maker, Derryogue, and Beneficarius. Her experience has also led local National Hunt trainers to seek her expertise in improving their horses’ jumping technique — an area where her eventing background continues to shine.
From international eventing to elite coaching and competition training, Michaela remains at the heart of Lincoln Stud’s success, combining decades of knowledge with a hands-on, horse-first approach.
